All You Need To Know About Diamond Painting

Hello there, My name is Natty Silvestre and I’m the co-founder of Original Paint By Diamond. I started this company or the way we like to call it, stress-relief and wellness service, about 6 years ago with my bestie Fiona after we discovered the power of the Paint by Diamond medium in a college trip to Bali in Asia. It’s been a long journey since then and we are glad to have served over 800,000 customers during this time span. I’m writing this article to ward off any myths and misconceptions about Painting by DIamond and the impact it has. I would simply like to begin by saying this  - it is art and there is an artist inside every human being.

Paint by Diamond is a pursuit of several great things at once- of art, creativity, stress-relief, good relationships and most importantly that feeling of self-fulfillment that you get after finishing each design. This art form is suitable for everyone regardless of age, gender or differences in culture. Apart from the business side of things, I’m an avid Paint By Diamond enthusiast and the impact it has had on my life is unbelievable.

What is Diamond Painting?

Diamond painting is a form of art in which you recreate a preset design (we have over 10,000 designs on our website for you to choose from) using diamond-like pieces with an applicator and wax. The final product is a shining canvas art that can be used as a great gift or displayed at your house or place of work.

Diamond painting enables you to discover the artist in you and engage in the creation of art which naturally enhances your feeling of well-being. I can recall hundreds if not thousands of stressful situations in my life that I handled through this process. I would borrow the words of world famous philosopher Plato, “Art is twice removed from reality” and would extend it to say that Diamond Painting in this manner removes you from the stressful reality of daily life and takes you on a happiness roller coaster.

The Process of Painting by Number

It is easy- trust me! The process is straightforward and is similar to paint by number but instead of colored markers or numbers you are using colored beads. FIrst of all, observe your preset design and try to create a mental image of it. This helps you feel more aligned with the design and for me it helps me enhance the creativity and try out something new. Secondly, apply adhesive from the small pink pad onto the applicator tool. This is how it picks up each bead. Then peel away part of the film (do not remove completely) covering the adhesive canvas and stick your beads (labeled by number) to the corresponding number on the canvas. I strongly recommend doing one color at a time as mixing would make it difficult to locate the spaces and the design aligned. When you've finished a session, re-cover with film and press lightly with your hand to further secure the beads to the adhesive. Make sure to keep your design covered with film when not in use; repeat the above whenever you'd like to work on your painting. When completely finished, remove the film covering the canvas and you're ready to display with the built-in frame.

How to begin Paint by Diamond?

Here’s the best part and it was our topmost priority to have it this way. Each and every order that you place on originalpaintbydiamond.com will have all the components and tools you need to complete that design. So, for about $15 for the smallest sized design, you are getting the following components:

  • Adhesive framed canvas with film covering
  • Number coded beads by color
  • Diamond applicator tool
  • Adhesive pad
  • Plastic tray to hold beats

Once you get your delivery, it is as simple as opening the package and getting to the design.
